About us

Our Story:

Bkedé O Mshiké is a general store, owned and operated by the NHBP, located on the Pine Creek Indian Reservation near Athens, Michigan. The store’s name, Bkedé O Mshiké, is the Potawatomi word for, “The Hungry Turtle.”

Bkedé O Mshiké strives to provide an exceptional customer service experience for NHBP Tribal Members, NHBP employees and the public, while offering an environment that encourages growth through personalized service, outstanding facilities and a sustained commitment to quality.

The staff at Bkedé O Mshiké remain dedicated to offering convenience items such as home and health goods, foods and drinks, as well as providing an ever-changing selection of Native-crafted goods, brand name apparel and one-of-a-kind Native-inspired gifts.

Bkedé O Mshiké’s e-commerce website offers a variety of fine apparel items, all branded with the NHBP logo. By creating this e-commerce website, we expanded our brand and opportunities for our customers to purchase fine crafts and goods online. In the future, we plan to expand our online store and offer a variety of Native-inspired items.
